Our Story

Sea Paws Rescue emerged in 2020 as a labour of love under the dedicated leadership of Natasha Gisondi. A passionate animal advocate with a heart for rescue, Natasha, along with her dedicated team at SPR, has transformed the lives of over 350 animals.

Having spent several years immersed in the world of animal welfare, Natasha's journey began with hands-on volunteering, and rescuing pups from shelters worldwide. Her first hands-on rescue mission unfolded after Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas Natasha flew down for disaster relief for animals, shuttling back and forth from Nassau to Abaco, rescuing animals and reuniting them with family members or providing assistance to local shelters. This experience not only solidified Natasha's commitment to animal rescue but also lead to her meeting her furever dog Winston who she flew back home with in 2019.

She personally fostered and cared for over 50 dogs, cultivating a deep understanding of their unique needs. Natasha, along with her SPR team, went beyond traditional rescue efforts by creating meticulous foster and adoption screening processes. This innovative approach ensured that every animal found not just a home but their best furever home in Canada.

The pivotal moment came during the challenges posed by the onset of COVID-19. Natasha, driven by an unwavering commitment to the cause, decided to formalize their efforts by incorporating SEA PAWS RESCUE LTD. (SPR) as a Not-for-Profit organization. Today, Natasha continues to lead the Ontario-based rescue, while her co-founder, Briana MacLeod, now resides in Alberta.
SPR was born from Natasha's vision to make a lasting impact on the lives of rescue dogs, both locally and overseas. The team's dedication goes beyond borders, aiming to give back to the very areas from which they rescue.

our pawsome values

Partners

We've forged strong partnerships with organizations like K9 Advocates Manitoba, The Dog Go Project Mexico, and many others to tackle pet homelessness together. Our devoted volunteers play a vital role in supporting our mission, while our collaboration with local vet clinics, including Lakeview Animal Hospital and Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC), ensures that all our animals receive comprehensive care.

Animals

No animals are hopeless, with a particular adoration for pups who need that little extra love and attention. We partner with other rescues and shelters to help all animals no matter where they are in the globe. Our fosters ensure that all animals are loved and cared for unconditionally until they are placed into their #SPRfurever homes.

Welfare

We feel strongly in supporting and educating others on responsible ownership and humane treatment of all animals. We teach others about the importance of neutering/spaying and how extreme animal overpopulation can be prevented. We are committed to ensuring every animal is matched with their best possible family.

Shelter & Care

Fosters & volunteers are the heart and soul of everything we do.We believe every animal, whether young or old, social or shy, in good health or poor deserves a good life.As a foster-run rescue, we provide foster homes in Canada so that our animals can receive the medical attention and shelter they need until they are ready for their #SPRfurever homes!
